Capacity
“I don’t have capacity” is the perfect thing to say when you need to say no.
“I wish I could but I am over-capacity.”
Another perfect response when someone asks you to do something when your plate is already full or overfull. No one wants to push you further over-capacity.
Capacity is a calm, grounded and non-judgmental word.
It honors that we are humans who have limits that need to be honored.
At capacity (or over capacity) feels much better than overwhelmed or too busy.
There is no failure involved.
When we are at capacity we are simply at capacity.
Once we can notice what this feels like, it’s time to stop, pause, breathe, and rest until we have capacity again.
