Even Dirt Needs to Rest
Life coaching lessons from a sustainable farm.
Rest is important
Even dirt needs 6 weeks of stillness between crops to function optimally. Another version of honoring diastole.
Sometimes you need to chop it all down and start again
That’s how a bunch of bananas is harvested. If you just pick the bananas- no more bananas will grow. A nod to minimalism and mindful transformation. Don’t be afraid to stop being who you are to become someone new. That's how it works sometimes.
There are seasons for everything
Crops have optimal seasons. Choose to grow things in season for ease and abundance. When you grow out of season, things don’t grow well if at all. You can force things to grow out of season, with exactly the right conditions, in a greenhouse for example, but it is a lot more work. This applies to relationships, jobs, movement, careers, family, and rest. New seasons always come.
Set yourself up for success.
Always have your own “water source.” Plants don’t grow without water. Nourish yourself well and have the resources - time, space, and raw materials to do so.
Space things out intentionally depending on what you plan to use them for. Similar to creating a life roomy enough to live in. Knowing the spacing looks different depending on the goal of that season..
Seeds need to be planted every day for a healthy, abundant, sustainable, and vibrant farm
What “seeds” for a healthy abundant, sustainable, and vibrant life do you want to plant daily?
Flowers make almost everything better
Flowers are great to look at, smell, and oftentimes eat.
Beauty and vibrant colors promote health and healing and can even help prevent disease.
Notice beauty, intentionally create it, and take time to enjoy it.
