Head-to-Heart

In all of my retreats and every one of my yoga classes, I teach a hand-to-heart practice.

Hand-to-heart has been shown in studies to increase oxytocin release and decrease cortisol levels in saliva.

Hand-to-heart helps us practice self-compassion and kindness, release self-judgment, and connect with ourselves again.

Last week as a new grandma, I practiced head-to-heart

— newborn head sleeping on my heart.

It is the only thing I have discovered that is better than hand-to-heart.

Pausing and attending to our human hearts with love and human touch is essential for health, peace, and happiness.

Head-to-heart or hand-to-heart.

Spend some time doing one of them every day.

Taking good care of our own human hearts is for many of us the missing ingredient keeping us from living the life we dream of.
