Who would you be if you stopped always striving and pushing for something different, something better, something more?
A well-lived life is to know what's enough.
But what is enough?
It's nearly impossible to know what's fulfilling when we are constantly reaching for something else.
It is hard to put down a vision of what’s ideal in order to be who and where we are exactly as we are.
Who would you be if you stopped always striving and pushing for something different, something better, something more?
What if you stopped worrying that being present, satisfied, and content with where you are might lead to complacency or laziness?
We are told to try hard. And if we meet resistance or get stuck try harder.
Never giving up, pushing, and striving are glorified.
But where does this get us?
“Often the imposition of our will turns resilience into stubbornness and then we chase our willful tail”- Mark Nepo
Most of us spend our lives continuing to search for what’s missing.
We constantly focus on fixing and improving
We keep looking for better.
This keeps us from being present and feeling connected.
We hold out for perfection —that never comes.
We insulate ourselves and protect ourselves from being touched by the life in front of us.
We are lonely.
What if you decided what your life is right now is enough?
What if you slowed down enough to experience fully what's before you right now?
What would happen if you were fully present with exactly how it is?
What would happen if you stopped looking for what might be missing?
What would happen if you chose to enjoy your current life in all its imperfections?
In my experience, it is magic.
Learning to think this way is not easy. It takes practice and commitment. But it is so worth it.
