Elegant Leadership

An elegant leader doesn’t lead from scarcity, catastrophizing, anxiety, or distrust.

They are not over-responsible or toxically independent.

They do not self sacrifice and they are not martyrs.

They model caring.

For themselves and others.

An elegant leader doesn’t people please.

They model self compassion.

They model grace, kindness, generosity, gratitude, and humanity.

They do the best they can with the resources, experience, skills and situations in front of them.

And they make mistakes sometimes.

They handle their mistakes and those of others with grace and compassion.

An elegant leader is intentional about what they do and say.

They are not reactive. They respond.

They are mindful.

They lead with intention.

Elegant leaders choose the tone and energy that they bring to their team on purpose.

They are not judgmental. They are curious and patient.

Elegant leaders lead in alignment with their values and their priorities.

They are calm, grounded, and tree-like.

Elegant leaders connect with hope and they lead with love.

Mindful and compassionate leadership and leading with love is not what you learn in “chief school” or leadership training.

I wish it was.

It is the best kind of leadership.

Love is energizing and activating. It gets things done and cares for everyone involved.
