"Jedi Master"
I have been nicknamed by a client “Jedi Master Jessie”.
This warms my heart and brings me true joy because of the photos below.
And it led me to some fascinating reflections.
As a mom of 3 boys, Star Wars played a huge role in my house for a very long time. Now that they are grown, it doesn’t any longer.
As I look back, these light saber events were moments where I truly paused and was present. I was mindful and witnessing the joy of my children brought me true joy.
I wasn’t worried about or thinking about anything else- I just wanted to be there. And so did they.
And never in a million years did I think I would ever choose to write about Star Wars. I am not a Star Wars buff. At all. The story and movies were not my favorite. I often wished that someone would want to do “a girl thing” with me...
So Star Wars is an example
Of the duality I often talk about in yoga and coaching.
And as it turns out it was clearly also part of MY journey. In so many ways.
One of which is that Yoda is all about pausing and being present. He shares many incredible coaching messages.
A few to start-
“You will find only what you bring in.”
“Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view.”
“Named must your fear be before banish it you can.”
“Your path you must decide.”
“You will know (the good from the bad) when you are calm, at peace.”
“Do not assume anything Obi-Wan. Clear your mind must be if you are to discover the real villains behind this plot.“
“To be Jedi is to face the truth, and choose. Give off light, or darkness, Padawan. Be a candle, or the night.”
Change is fun.
Seeing things in a new light myself is fun.
Helping others transform and see things in a new way is fun.
My boys were right.
So cool what shifts when you open your mind.
