Lessons from Cassette Recorders

Pause. Play. Fast Forward. Rewind. Stop. Eject.

For those of you in my generation, you may fondly (or not so fondly) remember the cassette recorder buttons.

Pressing one of these buttons is setting an intention.

Pause

Play

Fast Forward

Rewind

Stop

Eject.

Choosing the direction and the approach want.

All choices are good options at different moments in time.

Different seasons require a different button.

When the problem happens is when you jump ahead and don’t pause or stop between buttons. Then the tapes became tangled and unraveled and require the pencil to rethread them twist by twist.

What lessons do the cassette recorder buttons have for you at this moment in time?

Which button is the right one for you to press today?
