Duality

The glory of nature and the pain of nature —side by side.

Smoke from wildfires north, south and east.

The cool breeze and clear and cleansing water of the ocean to the west.

I learned to appreciate the concept of duality in yoga training.

I see duality as a form of accepting and allowing and making space.

There is no need for one thing — the pain of the smoke- to erase another -the beauty of the ocean.

They don’t have to compete with one other.

All come with duality.

With deep breaths and spaciousness there can be room for the full spectrum of emotions.

All of which are part of being alive.

You can be grateful and frustrated.

You can be appreciative and stressed.

You can be exhausted and present.

You can be angry and accepting.

Yoga, mindfulness, and mindset are not about maintaining a high.

They give you tools to help you oscillate more easefully between the highs and the lows-

the beauty and the pain,

sickness and health,

and ease and challenge

all with grace and compassion.
